The War Memorial Library in Hudson is a non-profit registered charity providing a subscription library of printed and digital materials, primarily in the English language, to the residents of Hudson, Quebec and surrounding communities.Operated by volunteers, the Library is self-financing through membership fees, donations and fund raising activities. The Library in turn donates, to local charities, funds in excess of its own needs. The building and the Library serve as a memorial to those in Hudson who served in the Canadian Armed Forces.

Bard's Birthday Bash

The 449th Bard's Birthday Bash takes place between Noon and 2 pm on Saturday, April 27th at the Library. Lowell Gasoi (and friends) will perform pieces from Shakespeare as well as host a spirited discussion on the Bard's profoundly human plays and discuss the importance of performance. Celebrate Shakespeare's 449th birthday with us! Birthday cake will be provided by the wonderful volunteer bakers at As Kneaded.
Authorship debates surround two of the most sacred items in the western cannon: Shakespeare's plays as well as the bible. However, Lowell Gasoi, former artistic director of Festival McGill and Elysian River Theatre and current Vice-President of the Hudson Players Club, suggests that this fixation is secondary to much greater concern: the impact of these profound words. By moving past reverence into curious and passionate engagement, we see these works as they are performed, not as history but as living text.
