Hudson Box Office (HBO) - Poldark

Poldark is a British drama series based on the novels of the same name by Winston Graham. It was originally screened between 1975-1977 and was a huge hit . Set in 18th century Cornwall, Ross Poldark returns from 3 years of fighting in the American War of Independance, to find his father dead, his estate in ruins and his true love engaged to his cousin. He rescues a fiery young woman, Demelza, and takes her on as a kitchen maid, and he also attempts to regain control of his tin mines. The new adaptation stars Aidan Quinn as Ross, Eleanor Tomlinson as Demelza and is adapted by Debbie Horsfield. The series is set against the magnificent Cornish coastline and is definately one for the ladies! The library has the first season. Click here for a more detailed link.
