The Write Stuff - Mona Awad

Mona Awad was born in Montreal and has lived in the U.S. since 2003. A graduate of York University in Toronto, she also received her MScR in English Literature from Edinburgh University. She has worked as a freelance journalist, food columnist, and is currently pursuing a PhD in creative writing from the University of Denver.
The library has recently acquired a copy of her debut novel, 13 Ways of Looking at a Fat Girl. Described as brilliant, hilarious and shocking, Awad skewers the body image-obsessed culture that tells women that they have no value outside their physical appearance, and one young woman's struggle to conform.
